Employee Spotlight_ Heather K
Heather’s background in a nutshell:
I started my accounting career as a part-time bookkeeper for various companies before joining the client accounting service team at a large local CPA firm. Within a few years I transitioned to the tax team where I was able to leverage the bookkeeping knowledge I'd gained and add value to the tax clients I worked with. Years after working my way up to Manager I decided to leave the comforts and hours of a big firm in order to focus on my family. I started working as a contract bookkeeper again while building a tax book of individuals and small businesses. The more my children grew, the more I started to miss working with a team. I'm excited to join Accountfully to help grow the tax department, to build on the services we can provide and solidify the bridge between your books and taxes.

First Job: I was a file clerk for a law firm where my mom works. It wasn't the most exciting work as a teenager but it was nice to know I always had a job in the summer and I was glad to be able to spend the extra time with my mom.

Favorite way to unwind after a busy day: Taking the kids to the beach

The work-related accomplishment most proud of: Passing the CPA exam. I took a bit of a nontraditional path once I figured out what I wanted to be when I grew up. At one point I was working full time, finishing my Masters, planning a wedding and studying for the exam. I'll never forget getting the final passing grade!

What makes Heather laugh the most: My kids have finally edged out my husband but probably unintentionally. I have no idea where they come up with some of the things they say!

Go-to Karaoke song: Don't Stop Believin'

Heather’s nickname: Bing. My maiden name is Bingham and my teammates in college shortened it and still call me that today.
